The primary goal of "I Have a Dream" of Southwest Washington is to provide the motivation and support system necessary to encourage at-risk students to stay in school, define career goals, and fulfill the requirements for admission to college or vocational school. Funding for the program is provided by local sponsors.

Organized in 1995 by Mary Granger, "I Have a Dream" of Southwest Washington has four local projects that are currently helping 333 students from low-income neighborhoods. Entire grade levels of students have been chosen from Washington, Hough, Harney, and Martin Luther King elementary schools.

The program provides a school-based Project Coordinator to assist the Dreamers on a daily basis and promises tuition assistance for college or vocational training.

Vancouver Rotary is proud to have made an ongoing contribution to this project, making a $10,000 donation every year for 10 years. The Dreamers are exemplary citizens and future leaders, and we wish all of them and their families only the best as they move forward.
